Job Description

Key accountabilities:

Supporting the Business Development team with technical input for customer visits and enquiries.
Represents Company at industry trade shows, seminars, and associations to promote Ricardo
Developing design concepts to meet project/customer specifications in conjunction with senior members of the engineering team.
Develop driveline schemes based on customer requests for quotation.
Construction of indicative gearbox bills-of-materials to allow estimated costs of assemblies to be determined.
Calculation of indicative manufacturing costs for driveline components
Effective communication of costs and assumptions made, holding both parties accountable for variations.
Working closely with Manufacturing to ensure NPI is in line with quoted methods and costs.
Providing estimates of non-recurring expenses relating to program activities

Additional/special features of the role:

An office-based role, but there is a potential for extensive travel to support customer visits, trade shows and meetings around the UK, Europe and, potentially, worldwide. Holder of a driving license
There could be a requirement to support normal design engineering departmental activities should time allow.

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:

Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering) with more than strong experience
Technical knowledge of automotive transmission systems, including differentials
Proven capability of detail design and component solid modelling with Creo or other main platform CAD system in similar environment.
Experience of modern manufacturing methods.
Strong business and commercial skills, including familiarity with contracts, NDA’s, IP, proposals, pricing, margins,
A flexible approach, being able to work successfully in a small team to aggressive timescales.

Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:

Material selection and heat treatment
Casting materials and techniques
Additive manufacturing techniques
Knowledge of EMobility drivetrain systems and industry trends, gear technology and Design
Hydraulic circuitry
