The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the commercial success of Ricardo Software’s 1D and 3D Fluids products (WAVE, WAVE-RT and VECTIS). Key responsibilities include defining the short- and long-term product strategy, feature definition, and supporting global commercial sales activities. Reports to Global Product Manager.
Work in partnership with the Global Product Manager to define the short (6 month) and long (2yr+) term commercial growth strategy for the WAVE, WAVE-RT and VECTIS products including market positioning, competitor profiling and USP definition.
Work in partnership with the appropriate Development Managers to continuously update and prioritize the product development roadmaps for WAVE, WAVE-RT and VECTIS including an agreed rolling release plan for each feature.
Work in partnership with the Software Solution team to develop case studies/value propositions that support the sales growth of the WAVE, WAVE-RT and VECTIS products. Key areas will include virtual calibration, combustion system optimization, friction reduction, thermal system optimization, acoustic/NVH performance etc.
Work in partnership with the Marketing team to develop marketing/sales materials for the WAVE, WAVE-RT and VECTIS products. This will include product flyers, brochures, application/release notes, technical papers etc. and attendance at workshops / user conferences.
Work in partnership with the Commercial/Sales team to identify new sales opportunities, qualify new leads and support any client product evaluation activities.
Work in partnership with the Customer Services team to ensure that we are delivering superior levels of customer service to both internal and external customers while demonstrating Ricardo’s core values of respect, integrity, creativity and innovation, and passion.
Work in partnership with the Technical Support team as required to resolve any client issues that have come through the Technical Support ticket system.
Work with the Ricardo Automotive team to develop analysis led engineering processes for thermal-fluid systems which when combined with Ricardo Software form a total engineering solution and differentiate Ricardo Software in the CAE software market.
Performs other job-related duties as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
BSME or equivalent technical degree, MS or PhD preferred.
15+ years experience using 1D and 3D fluids dynamic analysis software [required] with knowledge of
Ricardo Software VECTIS and WAVE [required];
GT-Power, STAR-CCM, AMESim and similar commercial codes [desirable].
15+ years experience in at least one of the following areas [required], in both [highly desirable]:
internal combustion engine (gasoline, diesel, natural gas, multi-fuel);
power unit thermal management systems (ICE, motor, battery and power electronics) with focus on xEV market.
Extensive experience in non-powertrain system analysis. [desirable and differential]
Proven commercial experience is required – must be comfortable with regular customer interactions, including sales presentations, technical presentations, training, technical support, etc.
Travel is required, with the ability to travel internationally (average travel requirement is approximately 25%).
Sound strategic thinker; possesses vision of what could be; ability to identify opportunities; creative and ability to think out of the box.
