Job Description

Ricardo Innovations (RI) is a division of Ricardo plc and is charged with converting the company’s research discoveries into commercial successes. To achieve this the division engages with other divisions within the Ricardo business, identifies key strategic objectives and executes research projects to meet these objectives. These projects have a variety of funding streams including internal funds, working together with third parties or through centrally funded collaboration, mainly through the EU and UK government. 

 

RI has its own divisional finance team that oversees the divisions finance affairs including a monthly/annual set of management accounts and ensuring that grant funded projects are currently managed and reported.  Financial integrity and accuracy are key to the divisions success both internally to the group and to the grant.

 

The division is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join the three-strong finance team.  Reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations The role is wide ranging supporting all aspects of the finance function, playing a key role in the management and reporting of RI finances.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The role involves assisting accounting officials/senior management in the maintenance, reporting and management of the company’s finances. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

 

Preparation and posting of general ledger journals into SAP
High level maintenance of Sales and Purchase ledgers
Reporting aged debtors and creditors
Overseeing invoicing of both internal customers for engineering services to the rest of the group or third party commercial customers
Preparing and maintaining accurate balance sheet schedules
Providing regular support to the grant accountant and project managers to ensure grant claims can be submitted in line with the relevant regulation and guidelines
Maintain accurate schedules of patents, professional and legal costs
Overseeing employee expense claims
Preparing and submitting Intrastat EC Sales returns

 

The role holder will be expected to assist in other finance and administration  areas as directed by the Head of Finance and Operations

 

 

Person Specification

 

Essential skills and experience:

 

Evidential grasp of accounting entries and postings
Experienced Excel user; able to edit and create spreadsheets
Excellent attention to detail
Well-developed numeracy skills
A team player

 

Preferred skills and experience:

 

Working knowledge of SAP
Working knowledge of Excel pivot tables
