Job Description

Ricardo Strategic Consulting (RSC) is a leading strategic consultancy, complementing Ricardo’s 100-year heritage of engineering and technical excellence.  We are developing the marketing, sales and delivery of our Knowledge Solutions, which includes news reports and database subscriptions, subscription-based consultancy support and training and are looking for a Commercial Manager to drive growth for this important product and service area.

The main function of this role is to develop and implement a growth strategy for our online store, which will be underpinned by your marketing and sales activities and the development of new and existing products and services. This role will involve working closely with the wider RSC team, including New Product Introduction role and the Ricardo marketing function.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who has experience in leading a team to produce innovative, high quality and growth-driven work. This is a hands-on role that will require comprehensive experience of marketing and sales.

Responsibility for the development, implementation and management of the Ricardo Knowledge eCommerce sales and marketing strategy
Regular reporting to RSC’s senior leadership team on the implementation of the strategy and related key performance indicators
Supporting ‘go-to-market’ strategies for new products (working closely with NPI function, new sales and customer service)
Management and delivery of lead generation focused marketing that drives a clear return on investment
Implement efficiency improvements within product delivery function
Lead and develop the Ricardo Knowledge team, including coaching and mentoring of the team, team communications and motivation
Monitor and optimise the eCommerce sales process
Work with wider Ricardo Group to support promotion and sales of Ricardo Knowledge solutions


Key competencies and experience

An experienced manager of people who can demonstrate the positive impact they’ve had on their team’s performance, for example managing a high-performing team and maintaining and developing team morale
Relevant degree or HND level professional qualification
Evidence and experience of planning and implementing marketing and communications campaigns to drive sales and revenue growth (preferably within an eCommerce environment)
Understanding of marketing, analytics, communications and innovation best practice
Experience of budget and time management with an ability to demonstrate a positive ROI
Track record of building and growing client relationships
Experience of quickly understanding a new technical area, gathering and managing input from a range of internal stakeholders


Skills and behaviours

High level of commercial awareness and ability to directly deliver value
Ability to deal with multiple tasks and challenges simultaneously
Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels
Leadership and people management skills to motivate a team
Good “user benefits focused” copy writing capabilities
Experience of using marketing software such as CMS or email automation. Experience in Kentico, Microsoft Dynamics, Click Dimensions or Dotmailer would be desirable
Experience with the automotive sector would be desirable
