The Software Solutions team is part of Ricardo Software, a division of Ricardo. The solutions team focus on the development of solutions to optimise the use of the Ricardo software portfolio through co-simulation ideas that will be sold to clients to support growth in both automotive and new market sectors.
This role will focus on the development of solutions to support customers in applying Ricardo analysis tools in addressing key transmission engineering challenges for future powertrains and vehicles across passenger vehicles, commercial and off-highway, as well as across other sectors including rail, marine and energy.
As a Solutions Manager, you will offer technical knowledge to support our existing and future clients create new virtualisation solutions using the latest capabilities of appropriate Ricardo tools (FEARCE, ENGDYN, SABR,VALDYN,WAVE-RT, IGNITE).
This will include assisting them with the development and integration of applications, all with the view to demonstrating capability and promoting increased use of Ricardo tools within their VPD processes.
This is very much a hands-on solution design and development role, and you should expect to be continuously learning as Ricardo products and virtualisation requirements evolve.
Working directly with the Ricardo Software Commercial team to understand the current and future needs of Ricardo Software customers.
Support sales targets in the ‘Solutions’ sector and support the growth of the services business.
Working in partnership with the Technical Consulting business to identify opportunities to develop co-simulation ‘solutions’ and/or process improvement that can be used to drive the growth of engineering service activities and hence software licence sales across the automotive and new sectors
Roadmapping and identification of key driveline engineering challenges across client sectors
Development of approaches to address engineering challenges through solutions approach applying co-simulation to improve toolchain prediction capabilities
Demonstration and prototyping of modelling approaches and capability to enable application of Ricardo tools to address new areas for virtualisation solutions
Development of case studies and applications in collaboration with technical consulting to grow application usage and demonstrate engineering capability of tools to internal Ricardo customers
Working with development teams and product managers to implement solutions to allow sales to external customers
Managing enquiries and development planning in the solutions area.
Requires minimal supervision and demonstrates strong ability to prioritise and self-direct tasks.

Significant direct interface with customers, naturally establishes trust-based relationships.
Lead solutions projects
Assists commercial team with technical solutions demonstrations (web meetings / at customers / marketing events)
Helps to identify potential solutions leads from commercial team, technical consulting and support enquiries
Supports product evaluations by potential customers where applications of solutions is a key differentiator
Writes proposals to support potential solutions projects
Solution delivery for technical support requests for core tool competencies to enhance the technical support Ricardo provides to its customers
2Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical degree; Master’s degree a plus
Experience in technical engineering environment delivering analysis engineering support to customers to support engineering project delivery.
Strong problem solving, analytical and listening skills
Proficient in computer-aided engineering of driveline systems
Proficient in scripting / coding to support development of scripts for developing efficient simulation processes (e.g. Python)
Minimum five years of related experience in analytical and design applications for a single discipline.
Experience and demonstrated proficiency with client interactions and client satisfaction.
Experience and demonstrated proficiency with technical writing
Knowledge of mathematical theory of modelling; general knowledge of Ricardo Software tools considered a plus
Ability to work independently or with others in a geographically diverse team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Must have experience of presenting and explaining his/her ideas to a wider audience including those without a programming background, and management. Should be able to explain problem decompositions and implementation solutions in a consistent and convincing manner
