Job Description

Role

Primary role within the team is to support the manufacturing Engineers when defining the manufacturing process, supporting the realization of the quoted times and looking for opportunities to reduce cost.

Additional functions will require trouble shooting of manufacturing issues to support customer quality requirements and delivery dates.

General administrative functions associated with the function of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of the manufacturing process to achieve the design requirements, ensuring the most cost-effective approach.
  • Hands-on approach to developing the manufacturing processes to efficiently machine components, continually looking to reduce the costs.
  • Specification/design of tooling, fixturing and equipment to support manufacturing processes, including its procurement, commissioning and implementation
  • Support all team members to ensure the realisation of the quoted manufacturing times and processes.
  • Work with the production and engineering teams to reduce waste.
  • Liaison with the design authority to ensure correct understanding of intent and process requirements.
  • Support shop floor with issue resolution.
  • Modify existing manufacturing methods to improve the process.

Skills

  • Have a proven background working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on approach to problem solving and cost reduction.
  • Working in a formal Quality framework.
  • Continuous Improvement drive.
  • Good PC skills and Business System experience.
  • Experience of working in a production environment for a precision, low volume customer base.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and processes for milling, turning and grinding.
  • Proficient in the use of 2D drawing software.
  • 5 axis CAD/CAM knowledge/experience is Desirable but not essential
