Based at a UK Ricardo Technical Centre and primarily responsible for leading battery business development, proposal and project delivery activities, covering design and development.
Your everyday tasks will include the provision of:
Technical and commercial leadership in developing new business opportunities
Creating, develop, and maintain the battery systems value offering
Compelling project proposals that demonstrate value to our customers
Outstanding project delivery, managing scope commitment, customer relationship and commercial position
You will be comfortable with:
Meeting new customers, developing relationships and business leads
Working closely with our sales teams
Operating within multi-discipline teams to win and deliver battery projects
Leading a team and mentoring engineers
Preparation and presenting on battery systems at conferences and customer technology days
Accountability / Key Responsibilities
You will understand our client's business, industry and trends to build and sell solutions that respond to their needs
Defining new business streams for battery systems and developing associated selling strategies and supporting material through collaboration with the global team, other product groups, market sectors, commercial and engineering teams to develop and sell a portfolio of high value solutions
Providing technical lead in developing business opportunities with relevant material and preparing proposals (documentation, plans, costing, commercial package) for global customers through to order conversion including successful contract negotiations
Technical leadership of assigned projects by leading technical reviews, defining technical resource requirements for successful project execution and acting as primary technical liaison with clients
Support development of Ricardo technology strategy and product offerings for hybrid and electric vehicle battery systems in the fields of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, off highway, marine, rail and stationary energy storage
The role requires a blend of commercial, technical and delivery experience and as such candidates with strengths in all of these domains will be considered.
You are a degree qualified, and ideally chartered, engineer with a significant industry track record in high voltage battery systems product design & application.

Your background in hybrid and electric vehicle battery systems product development projects at a Tier 1, OEM or consultancy
Your history of defining and preparing winning proposals, with the ability to develop strong, long-lasting customer relationships at senior level and profitable revenue streams
Understanding of cell chemistries used in hybrid & electric vehicles.
Knowledge of battery system architectures and battery management systems
Experience of electrical and electronic component integration (up to 1,500V), design & development on low volume or high volume products (connectors, bus bars, cables, contactors & fusing)
Your understanding of project delivery within a systems engineering environment and familiarity with the delivery process from requirements capture through to design validation.
Your experience in compliance engineering to external standards, such as, EMC, vehicle safety, functional safety ISO26262 etc and in delivering DFMEA for hybrid or electric vehicle systems
Your ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time
Your real passion for crafting new ideas, promoting business cases and developing value propositions
Your enthusiastic and self-motivated personality, which compliments your drive and dedication to deliver technically challenging projects
Flexibility on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally.
Strong leadership, teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills and ability to coordinate and lead multi-disciplined teams
Ability in the following areas is highly beneficial:
Sales and customer relationship management
Experience / knowledge of controls algorithms in an automotive environment
Experience / knowledge of calibration of Hybrid systems
Familiar with laboratory, field development and test equipment.
Experience of electrified component development.
