Job Description

As a Senior Project Manager at Ricardo Performance Products, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of engineering projects for New Product Introduction (NPI) to the manufacturing facility. Ensuring excellent two-way communication of expectations, requirements and results against project targets and developing timelines and managing project teams to deliver our NPI projects to these targets.

The role is primarily focused on successfully delivering Motorsport Transmissions through design, development and supply requiring a strong appreciation of design engineering and manufacturing processes


Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

Overall project leadership of projects, responsible for delivering on-time, on-budget and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction

Managing project risk and Ricardo’s commercial exposure along with ownership of all project issues
Being the senior customer interface for the project, establishing strong and effective customer relationships
Interfacing with all areas of Performance Products for the project, to establishing strong and effective internal relationships
Ensuring projects are delivered in adherence with Ricardo’s internal project management processes and procedures, including Ricardo’s Product Development System.
Managing and monitoring project scope and leading customer negotiations on changes
Supporting preparation of customer proposals (scope of work, timing, costs)
Supporting development of Ricardo’s internal project management capability by supporting and coaching more junior members of the project management team

Depending on the project worked on, the role will involve some travel.



The ideal candidate will have:

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

A good understanding of; transmission systems, manufacturing processes, commercial aspects of engineering project execution and sales proposals
A demonstrable track record of successfully negotiating scope changes with customers
Proven stakeholder management skills with demonstrable experience of managing challenging commercial customer relationships
Excellent customer relationship management skills to support continuous growth with strategic customers
Experience working in a Motorsport or similar environment, working to achieve customer requirements in aggressive timescales
Be degree-qualified in a relevant subject, currently delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
A professional project management background and ideally be APM qualified
Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project
A natural desire to contribute to continuous improvement within the function
