The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the commercial success of Ricardo Software’s Fluids Portfolio. As product owner, you will bring the product’s vision to reality. Your goal is to identify, build, and launch new revenue generating products for Ricardo Software, that also create value in the eyes of our customers. Inter-personal skills and multi-tasking are essential to be successful in this journey as the job requires your involvement across all aspects of the product development process including customer research, ideation, business planning, project management, procurement, marketing, legal, and operations. You will also be responsible for monitoring and assisting in managing project budgets and timelines.
The role will involve leading all aspects of our growing interests, including battery simulations and hydrogen technologies for combustion and fuel cell applications.
Applicants will work with a multicultural team and be required to interact with customers around the world.
This position reports directly to the Product Manager Director
Take ownership of your Products and Applications and lead its development with a customer-focused and agile mindset.
Create and communicate vision, roadmap, and detailed product requirements.
Align and motivate the team to deliver the product vision
Set up success metrics to manage stakeholders’ expectations
Identify key engineering challenges across different client and market sectors.
Develop business cases and champion new product ideas to secure project funding.
Define and execute demonstration, prototyping and MVPs that efficiently evaluate desirability, viability and feasibility of the identified solutions.
Develop and propose new approaches to address engineering challenges through our solutions.
Develop partnership to enhance our offering whenever possible to speed up time to market and improve the interoperability of our offering.
Create, track and manage budgets as well as work plans to enable on-time completion of deliverables
Anticipate bottlenecks and make tradeoffs to balance business, technical, and operational constraints
Evangelize the products to other Ricardo divisions to help drive adoption of our solutions and develop analysis led engineering processes.
Create and develop case studies and applications to demonstrate the engineering capability of our solutions and applications.
Look for opportunities to expand our user base
Work in partnership with other Ricardo Software teams –
Software Solution: develop case studies/value propositions that support the sales growth of the Fluids products and application. Some of the key areas will include virtual product development, system optimization, friction reduction, thermal system optimization and acoustic/NVH performance.
Marketing: develop marketing/sales materials for your product. This will include product flyers, brochures, application / release notes, technical papers etc. and attendance at workshops / user conferences.
Commercial/Sales: identify new sales opportunities, qualify new leads and support any client product evaluation activities.
Customer Services: ensure that we are delivering superior levels of customer service to both internal and external customers while demonstrating Ricardo’s core values of respect, integrity, creativity and innovation, and passion.
Technical Support: sometimes is required to resolve client issues that have come through the Technical Support ticket system.
Extensive experience with computer-aided engineering in the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) area. Typically using commercially available 1D and 3D CFD analysis software.
Extensive proven experience in at least one of the following areas [multiple is desirable]
Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) – gasoline, diesel, natural gas, multi-fuel, e-fuels and Hydrogen
Power unit thermal management systems (ICE, motor, battery and power electronics) with focus on xEV market;
Transmission and e-drive system cooling and lubrication.
Fuel cell technologies
Experience in non-powertrain system analysis. [desirable]
Bachelor of Science degree. MSc or PhD a plus.
Ability to work independently and with others in a geographically diverse team environment
Experience in building, launching and maintaining digital consumer products/services in a product management/ product ownership role.
A demonstrated and focused desire to build products and services that customers will be delighted.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic and matrixed organization.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving and listen skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have experience of presenting and explaining his/her ideas to a wider audience including those without a programming background, and management.
Should be able to explain problem decompositions and implementation solutions in a consistent and convincing manner
Ability to shape a compelling story about the problem you’re solving and the vision you’re reaching for, combined with the ability to dive into the details
Ability to travel internationally. The travel requirement is approximately 25%.
Proven commercial experience – must be comfortable with regular customer interactions, including sales and technical presentations, training and technical support.
Experience working with executives to evaluate and invest in new products and areas of opportunity.
Sound strategic thinker; possesses vision of what could be; ability to identify opportunities; creative and ability to think out of the box.
Strong negotiation skills with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task.
