Ricardo Strategic Consulting (‘RSC’) is the global strategy and management consulting arm of the Ricardo Group and is a natural extension of Ricardo's high value-added engineering services.

RSC’s unique value proposition exists at the intersection of strategy and management consulting with deep technical engineering capabilities. This allows RSC to support our global clients in dealing with the technology disruptions facing the mobility sector today.

We are actively searching for an experienced Senior Manager to join the Technology Strategy team to help drive business growth in our key service areas, which include:

Technology road mapping and adoption scenario modelling/forecasting
Scenario planning and futures research
New product / technology strategy development
Competitive benchmarking of products and technologies

 

Senior Manager

Senior Managers are central figures within our organisation. As a Senior Manager you will truly own the client problem and often form the hub of a specific assignment.  The Senior Manager will be two-fold. Business development, winning projects and building relationships with customers across the automotive, transport and power sector value chains. The Senior Manager will oversight of project delivery, ensuring the projects you are responsible for are delivered to time, cost and quality expected by our clients

In this role typical tasks will include:

Undertaking business development focused on profitable opportunities in existing markets and new growth areas (regional growth, new value propositions, deeper client penetration, new sectors)
Developing relationships with potential clients, building a network, RSC reputation and pipeline of business
Developing project proposals and advanced client development initiatives
Coaching, mentoring and supporting direct reports and more junior members of the team to accelerate their personal development and build organisational capability,
Leading some project delivery whilst also overseeing project execution in a steering role
Collaborating and developing relationships with colleagues from across RSC and wider Ricardo to facilitate joint projects
Establishing an innovative mindset within the team. The team need to challenge the status quo and to ‘think out of the box’ aiming to establish a leading-edge service portfolio which sets the benchmark in the market
Developing and promoting thought leadership especially in futures research

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be an experienced, highly competent self-starter with a proven track record of selling in a consulting environment and an appreciation of a broad range of current and future technologies, preferably in the automotive, transport or energy space. You will:

Be involved in every phase of a consulting engagement, from pre-proposal research through final implementation,
Be based preferably from the UK,
Successfully grow the client base and revenue stream for Technology Strategy.  This could be through generating new work by demonstrating an excellent track record or through successfully ‘selling on’ work to existing clients as a result of excellent project delivery,
Position and sell the solutions at client shareholder or senior management level,
Ensure first class customer relationship management and delivery,
Continue to raise awareness of the business across the Ricardo Group internally and build successful relationships across RSC globally,
As part of an international team, willingness to travel is a prerequisite,
Bring strong group facilitation skills and have the potential to become a future leader.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

·       Proven track record likely from a consulting environment, which could be augmented with corporate experience in the automotive or other industrial sectors

Proven track record of selling and building client relationships
Ownership of, accountability for, and a network of successful client relationships
Ability to put together creative and compelling propositions
Experience of leading and coaching project teams and direct reports
Entrepreneurial, autonomous, and commercial
The gravitas to sell at a senior level
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (degree qualified in a relevant scientific, technical, or engineering subject), preferably with an MBA or other post graduate qualification
Charismatic and high energy with the ability to quickly win credibility internally and externally
Excellent communicator, able to articulate and deliver messages effectively (both verbally and written),
Highly successful, strong character but collegiate, tenacious, ambitious, and hardworking
Thrives on challenges.
