Job Description

Based at Ricardo Leicester Technical Centre, UK, or Rimini Technical Centre, Italy, and reporting to the Senior Technical Business Manager, the primary focus of the role will be the development of new business opportunities within the Motorcycle, Powersport and Powered Light Vehicle Sector.  The objective is to build sustainable relationships with customers resulting in excellent customer retention, improved sales, increasing margins and ongoing customer loyalty.

 

Regular client visits to develop relationships and new business will be a key part of the role.  Your everyday tasks will also include the provision of technical and commercial leadership in proposal development.  You will therefore be comfortable meeting new customers and developing relationships at engineering and management levels.  Close interaction will also be required across engineering functions and Ricardo teams to coordinate efforts in support of winning profitable business with the customer.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for maximising the short- and long-term business opportunity through building excellent working relationships with customer purchasing, engineering and customer management teams
Building trust in our technical capability and delivery reliability with the customer
Lead the development of compelling, value-based proposals, develop appropriate pricing strategies and lead the proposal approval process through to order conversion
Ownership for the commercial relationship between the customer and Ricardo
Continuous dialogue with the decision-makers of the customer to establish a strong and consistent strategic collaboration/relationship
Support project acquisition by using the Value Selling approach
Identify and develop new business streams for Ricardo, and develop associated selling strategies and supporting material
Overseeing project delivery as “customer friend”
Effectively communicate the Voice of the Customer inside Ricardo
Be the main point of contact for the customer purchasing/engineering and technical teams and ensure timely responses to RFQs

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

You will have a well-developed business acumen, and ability to develop strong relationships both with customers and internally.  You are expected to have a good knowledge of products, market trends, and product development in the Motorcycle, Powersport and Powered Light Vehicle industry.  Knowledge of battery electric vehicles would be advantageous but is not essential.
