Job Description

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be rewarded with the opportunity to lead the implementation of a new and developing QMS through the final stages, in preparation for and throughout external assessment to IATF 16949:2016.

As a key member of a team within the Powertrain Assembly division of Ricardo Performance Products, the role involves supporting and advising all functions as they strive towards IATF 16949 conformity. This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to apply their QMS, internal audit and IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 experience and knowledge in a dynamic hands-on manufacturing environment.

The role is a 12-month, maternity cover contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the QMS & Compliance Lead you will be responsible for the structure, conformity and maintenance of the Powertrain Assembly QMS, including ownership of the internal audit process and programme. You will be responsible for distributing, supporting and tracking the close out of actions, ensuring readiness for external assessments.

Working closely with the management team and leads in Powertrain Assembly, your key objectives will include:

  • Managing and driving progress towards IATF Stage 1 and Stage 2 assessment readiness
  • Managing the relationship with our IATF accreditation provider, leading and facilitating any required compliance audits
  • Owning the internal audit process, ensuring adherence to schedule, and driving the timely close out of actions
  • Ensuring the maintenance of the QMS and its ongoing conformity to the requirements of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and customer requirements
  • Ensuring KPI scorecards and metrics are updated and communicated throughout the business
  • Management Review preparation, facilitation, and management of actions
  • Facilitating and supporting high level reviews to support the QMS, including Risk & Opportunities and KPI Scorecard & Objective reviews
  • Driving continuous improvement of the QMS
  • Supporting Powertrain Assembly’s participation in external ISO 9001, customer, and internal group compliance audits, to ensure continued conformity to quality standards and customer requirements

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge

  • In depth understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Application of quality standard requirements in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong advocate of risk-based thinking and PDCA cycle
  • Understanding and application of quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC and MSA
  • Confident auditor across all functions and processes

Skills/attributes

  • A good communicator with the ability to communicate and present effectively to customers and internally at all levels
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

Experience

  • Experience of QMS implementation and development through a similar role where skills can be transferred into the objectives described, gained within the automotive sector. 

Qualifications / Experience

  • IATF 16949 Lead Auditor preferred.

This role is ideally based in Shoreham with some flexibility in working arrangements for the right candidate. However, remote working may be considered for an exceptional candidate with some onsite working at Shoreham required.
