Job Description

THE ROLE

Take a lead in all stores functions including goods in, despatch and internal stock movements at Ricardo’s Midlands Technical Centre.

Support and deputise for the Stores Team Leader, to ensure a smooth and efficient continuation of service level to the business.

Part of the supply chain function, reporting to the Stores Team Leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Team Leader with the management of the stores team and planning resources to deliver the required level of service to both internal and external customers.
  • Help develop and continually improving stores functions and systems.
  • Manage the receipt of deliveries, including checking for accuracy against documentation, booking in, transfer to inspection / store.
  • Planning the timely generation, picking and issuing of kits to production/assembly to ensure no loss of production time.
  • Work closely and build relationships with assembly, quality and production team leaders to develop joint processes for more efficient movement of product within site.
  • Lead other stores operators and promote ownership of stock integrity within all storage areas and lineside locations.
  • Must be able to investigate stock discrepancies and put corrective action in place to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Timely and accurate closure of all production and assembly orders.
  • Work closely with Sales and Customs teams to ensure timely dispatch of goods with correct documentation.
  • Lead other stores operators in the Stores elements of the Sales Order process, ensuring all documents are processed in accordance with customer, financial and customs requirements.
  • Assist with the development and regular review of team KPIs and take all necessary corrective action where results fall below target.
  • Booking of transport with external providers 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills/Attributes

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office products particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent computer skills with an ‘enterprise’ MRP system (ideally LN / Baan).
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Bills of Materials.
  • Understanding of Lot / Batch control and traceability.
  • Good communication skills with ability to talk to internal and external customers.
  • Clear, logical thinker with the ability to understand and solve problems.
  • Forklift licence.

Essential Experience

  • Leading a team to achieve service level requirements.
  • Continuous improvements for physical and system processes.
  • Developing teams.

Desirable Experience

  • Working in a production environment with automotive or aerospace level of control and traceability.
