Job Description

Reporting to the Performance Products Head of Procurement the successful candidate will lead a new function within an existing Procurement and Supply Chain Team, within an established manufacturing and consultancy business. This new position has been created to enhance the existing team due to increasing demands on our shared responsibility to become sustainable and meet our net zero targets within a complex supply chain. The role will combine aspects of both procurement, supply chain management and supplier development, including interaction with the wider procurement community as well as with the supply base and clients alike. The successful individual will play a key role in supporting the Head of Procurement in setting the long term strategy for a sustainable supply chain across all PP sites.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

Create and embed appropriate ‘toolbox’ to map existing supply chain and create future strategy.

Map the current supplier baseline, developing an assessment model for sustainability
Support determining the current risks, opportunities and mitigation plan for implementing sustainable procurement within the Ricardo Performance Products supplier portfolio
Prioritise and carry out robust supplier assessments to ascertain supplier’s adherence to Ricardo’s sustainable procurement processes
Proactively analyse risk within existing supply base and work with key stakeholders to find areas of opportunity / risk mitigation and/or Provide gap analysis and risk evaluation on sustainability assessments
Advise and support suppliers on how to embed sustainable procurement and manufacturing practices and increase contribution to low carbon and sustainable products
Create and embed a robust set of performance KPI’s to monitor Performance Products’ progress in supply chain sustainability
Regularly report and document good practices, successes and challenges throughout the implementation 
Lead in creating an environment that supports supplier improvement
Support the supplier onboarding process to ensure sustainability is at the forefront of all supplier decisions.
Support clients in their journey to sustainability in a consultancy role
Work with other Ricardo Business units to create new revenue streams for the group in the sustainable supply chain space
Report, as required, PP progress and KPI’s to Plc to support Group targets
Become the lead in both internal and external audits that are focused on latest sustainability targets and goals
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) in the sourcing and contracting of new business
Advise and coach existing team members ensuring alignment to targets

Candidates Skills & Experience


Experienced in Supplier management.

Strong commercial awareness
Effective and proactive team member, capable of supporting the development of peers and junior staff members
Strong track record in driving improvements within a complex supply chain, especially in terms of sustainability
Passion for environmental and sustainability topics
Excellent report writing skills
Ability to prioritise workload effectively
Advanced Microsoft Office user, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
Effective communication skills.
Available to travel in the UK and overseas with sufficient notice.
Relevant Purchasing experience.
Full Driving Licence.


Experience of purchasing in the Automotive sector

Project Management experience
Experience in a sustainable procurement role
Understanding of latest regulations, Government targets and legislation
Audit experience
