Prototype Build Technician
- Role Type
- Closing Date
Ricardo are looking to recruit a permanent Prototype Build Technician to work at the Shoreham Technical Centre.
Working as part of the Prototype Build Team, as a Prototype Build Technician you’ll be performing a wide variety of assembly tasks in support of new and existing test and build programmes, working from engineering drawings or schematics with minimal supervision.
A particular focus of the role will be work on electrified vehicles, including assembly of prototype components, inspection, instrumentation and modification of vehicles, batteries and motors. With necessary training provided, in time, it is expected that the successful candidate will achieve HaV-SAP status within Ricardo, enabling them to conduct work on live electrical assemblies, and requiring them to prepare and issue safety documentation.
The ideal candidate should have experience in prototype assembly of engines, transmissions or EV components in an environment relating to automotive, marine or motorcycle engineering. Experience of working in an instrumentation role, or with hybrid and electric vehicles or systems would also be highly desirable. Ricardo hold flexibility within their teams in high regard, so experience in other, related fields such as engine or vehicle testing, machining, or fabrication would be an added benefit.
The role will require computer literacy, and candidates should be comfortable with accessing build documentation via electronic means. Routine use of electronic systems to measure and record build information is expected.
The role does not have any specific qualification requirements, although candidates holding (or due to shortly complete) a level 3 qualification or higher would be of benefit. Ricardo would be supportive of candidates interested in undertaking further academic study including HNC or HND qualifications while working in the role.
While the role is based at Ricardo Shoreham Technical Centre, there may be an occasional requirement to travel to conduct work at other locations for periods of up to a month at a time.
