Job Description

THE ROLE

 Working with the operational Performance Products business in Leamington Spa, you will be primarily responsible for the development of the capability and execution of Power Electronics / Machine Drives (PEMD) projects along with supporting current Transmission products. You will be responsible for supporting customer PEMD proposals with manufacturing and process knowledge and executing these projects whilst developing the team’s technical and process capability to support growth in the PEMD marketplace.  This role will be a combination of:

Supporting Strategy development and Customer proposals
Project management – planning and project execution, managing risk & cost estimating
Hands on – working with technicians and process engineers to develop processes
Customer/Supplier interface for PEMD components

This is a multi-faceted role suitable for a dynamic individual who has the desire and capability to grow with an organisation and brings a mix of knowledge, technical leadership, and drive to support Ricardo in the next step of their journey.  The individual will be comfortable in the workshop, leading technical discussions, and interfacing with key stakeholders.

Primarily office based but will be required to visit customers and suppliers in UK and Europe

Key Responsibilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

Support current transmission product operations
Project leadership for PEMD
Development of business processes and capability for PEMD products including design for manufacture, manufacturing, and testing.  This would include developing technology roadmaps for new products and proposing operational solutions
Propose PMED design improvements to optimise performance, reduce cost and improve robustness; this will also require working with the supply chain
Define validation requirements for PEMD designs, including considerations for their use and application. Responsible for planning and execution at all levels of testing
Focal for customer and supplier technical support for key components
Lead cross-functional teams on system integration

Personal Specification

The ideal candidate will:

Good technical knowledge of PMED in the Mobility sector and ideally knowledge of final drives
Be informed of technology developments in materials, processes, and architectures to for product development improvements
Understand the market, product definition and production environment of a low volume, niche manufacturer
Be a degree qualified Engineer with demonstrable knowledge and expertise
Hands on skills to lead strip and inspection of PEMD products
Proficient with data analytics tools

General Skills

PEMD function and theory knowledge, with experience in design for manufacture
Engineering mind with customer and operational focus
Interface directly with customers and suppliers on technical issues, with the ability to explain complex issues to a range of stakeholders
Good interpersonal and customer facing skills
Be proactive, self-motivated, and demonstrate attention to detail
Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills
Ability to present data in a clear, concise, and confident manner in meetings with technician to director level attendees
Financial acumen to support cost estimations and bid proposals
