Job Description


Ricardo is looking for a thorough and detailed individual to join our Quality team in this hands-on role. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for ensuring that the inspection capabilities of all manufacturing technicians and inspectors meet the required standards for a no-fault forward methodology.

You will be an experienced component inspector from a low volume precision engineering background. Experienced in batch machining with the diligence to audit the inspection work carried out by both manufacturing technicians and inspectors. You will ultimately be responsible for ensuring that all technicians are capable of inspecting work correctly, using the right equipment.

Accountability / Key Responsibilities:

This key quality role is essential to verify ongoing compliance & technician competency. Primary focus is on  internal quality and pro-active right first-time methodology.

The objective is to drive customer satisfaction by improvements to our Total Cost of Quality (TCoQ), On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery & other KPI’s. You will be working with Quality Engineers, gaining feedback from internal and customer issues along with the whole manufacturing and inspection team.

Candidate Experience:

The successful candidate will be: -

Experienced senior inspector of precision machined components in a batch environment
Fully conversant with engineering drawings and GD&T
Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with all team members, however, hold them accountable for their capabilities
Auditing c20 team members including new starters each week, reporting on capabilities and use of tools
Recommending audit frequency for each individual dependent upon findings of audit and quality escapes
Reporting each week on completed audits and maintaining a capability table, determining frequency of audit for each team member
Establish and maintain an objective audit process
Thorough, non-compromising individual who can work in a team environment and make a positive difference to KPIs and the Quality culture whilst holding individuals accountable

Beneficial qualifications & experience: -

A background in inspection of low volume precision machining of steels & castings is essential
Knowledge of gears and gear geometry would be an advantage
Computer literate essential


Work will be mainly on day shift, but periodic (once a month) auditing of Night shift and weekend Nightshift is also required

Show a proactive and innovative approach to supporting the team and have a natural desire to contribute to continuous improvement within the business. Be willing to go the extra mile when required to achieve quality improvements.
