Purpose:

An opportunity exists for a Thermal Systems Integration Engineer to deliver systems integration and attribute activities working on a large variety of on-going client projects in the automotive, marine and aerospace sector, ranging from; Powerpack: electric, fuel cell, hybrid systems concept design
Novel thermal systems concept and development testing through to complete production powertrain & thermal systems integration programmes.  You will be:             

Key Responsibilities:

To deliver thermal systems activities:

Capture functional and performance requirements
Develop system & component specifications
Develop thermal system architectures
Support project design team in providing guidance for package reviews, component details, piping & hose layout diagrams etc.
System level cost & mass tracking
Supplier liaison & management
Develop system design validation plans and input into vehicle/application level DVP's
System build & testing support

To deliver thermal systems activities:

Lead thermal benchmarking activities
Develop vehicle/application & system level thermal targets
Manage thermal system interfaces with vehicle/application
Supervise CAE engineers to deliver thermal analysis activities
Support project design team in providing guidance for package reviews.
Develop thermal content of vehicle/application level DVP's
Lead system and vehicle/application level thermal testing activities
Develop system and vehicle/application level thermal test procedures

 

Key accountabilities:

The successful applicant will have a sound Engineering background with 3 years of experience of successfully delivering Systems Integration projects.

Essential

Degree in an Engineering or relevant Science-based discipline with technical background in vehicle systems design and development
Experience in either:

Thermal systems analysis and/or design
A system engineering role
An attribute engineering role

Good Knowledge of requirements management, targets definition and specifications
Knowledge of thermal system architecture design considerations
Knowledge of thermal analysis tools
Experienced in developing design validation plans (DVP's) and associated test documentation
Methodical approach to issue investigation and resolution
Literate in IT systems (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Desirable

Knowledge of fuel cell systems
Good knowledge of automotive legislation requirements
Good knowledge of thermal control systems
Knowledge of system level safety concepts and requirements, related standards (including ISO 26262) beneficial and industry tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis
Experience in managing project budgets, resource and delivery
Understanding of commercial business factors
