Part of Ricardo plc, Ricardo Performance Products provides design, niche precision manufacturing services and industrialisation support to some of the most high profile and advanced clients in the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence and Motorsport world.
As part of the significant development of the commercial team and trends towards electrification, hydrogen, and other next generation propulsion solutions we are seeking an imaginative and motivated team member to support our market analysis activity. This will help shape the strategic development of all aspects of the business plan across all key sectors (High Performance Vehicle, Motorsport, Aerospace, Defence, Rail and Consulting).
Working closely with the Business Development Team, this person must possess a strong knowledge of the relevant markets and a well-developed appreciation of attention to detail. The expectation is that this individual will provide detailed analysis of market trends, developing technologies, key competitors, and Ricardo’s positioning within. Furthermore, identification of the value drivers, challenges, budgets, and product lifecycles for these potential customers will form part of the formalised output required on a regular basis to support strategy development and potential capital investment plans.
Additional/special features of the role:
To provide insightful, well founded and data driven information on the key markets, technologies, and competitors relevant to Performance Products’ strategic plans
To deliver formalised, consistent, and measurable content to support strategy reviews, Capital and operating investments, board meetings and external communications (proposals, white papers etc)
To help the company develop and evolve an internally published business plan for the Ricardo Performance Products business as a whole and its constituent market sectors
Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:
To engage with business development and marketing teams (across all targeted market sectors) to deliver cohesive information in a digestible and consistent format
To execute desk-based research to establish positioning of competitors, lifecycle of technology including geographical and or market sector-based trends
To support capital investment plans with associated ROI based on data gathered during the research phase
Provide competitive analysis on companies, market offerings and market trends
Stay well informed of key technologies in the marketplace and the associated capabilities required to deliver them
Lead GAP analysis against Ricardo Performance Products current skill set and the market trends (including ROI forecasts)
Feed data into the CRM system to support the business development team
Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:
Ideally a proven market research analyst with 1-3 years’ experience in an engineering and manufacturing / assembly led business operating in the niche volume sector.An appreciation of the automotive industry and battery capability is preferred.
Must have high levels of attention to detail, be analytical and a critical thinker capable of data interpretation and clear presentation at all levels of the organisation.
Technical Degree plus MBA qualified
Full UK Driving licence
