Job Description

Key accountabilities:

To support colleagues across all sectors including Industrialisation Consultancy, HPV, Motorsport, Defence and Aerospace, Off-Highway & Marine & Green Propulsion as required
To  access Government and Public Sector tender portals, directories and other sources of information, including leads originating from events, marketing campaigns, digital (web-based) sources including social media and  website leads
To support strategies to  develop longer terms project opportunities with targeted, strategic accounts, which aim to recommend and/ or specify driveline solutions which match Ricardo’s product and service offering
To support the establishment of appropriate processes and structure for an evolving Business Development team
To help coordinate a redefined ‘Bid/No Bid’ decision-making process
To collate source data and prepare materials for each stage of the bidding process, including ‘Bid/No Bid’ reviews and approval processes at both business unit and group level
To coordinate the ‘on time’ completion and delivery of high-priority bids, tenders and proposals across all market sectors
To work with internal resources plus business partners and external suppliers as required, enabling us to produce ‘high quality’ bid submissions
To support the delivery of agreed Bid Management objectives and strategic priorities in line with the business strategy
To provide support during the onboarding of for  new customers and/or business partners, leading to an expansion of the PP customer base
To support marketing events and campaigns, including generation of presentations, management of hardware including displays and physical hardware (customer samples)
To support desk based market research, development and support of internal communications and analysis of competitors

Operational Responsibilities:

To qualify new leads and opportunities using a robust verification process including Companies House, D&B Credit Checks and Nexis Due Diligence
To help coordinate ‘on time’ completion of Customer Satisfaction surveys
To manage a Non-Disclosure Agreement database
To check validity of current bids and initiate review to either re-issue or close off opportunities in a timely manner
To collate technical and commercial data required as inputs for tender submissions and proposals to a high level of detail and accuracy
To support development of marketing and promotional materials in line with business requirements, working closely with Marcomms Team.
To provide detailed status reports regarding key bid management and sales support activities
To communicate sales/business development updates in regular staff briefings and reporting as required.
To update and maintain accurate records and notes on CRM on behalf of the Team
To maintain project folders related to specific tenders and project opportunities                    

Additional/special features of the role:

This person will be able to demonstrate  very high levels of attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure, when necessary, on occasions to ensure that mandatory submission deadlines are met

Whilst this is a global role, the main focus will be on the UK, Europe and North America markets. As the role develops, there may be some requirement to attend off-site meetings, tradeshows and networking events in these markets, as well as hosting visits to Ricardo Technical Centres

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:

Experience in a commercial / marketing role in an engineering environment, and/or
Experience in a relevant technical area and a desire to move into a commercial role
Familiarity with engineering / manufacturing terms and processes

Desirable technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualification:

Understanding of Powertrain and/or Driveline systems, assemblies and components  
Previous Contracts Administration and Project Management experience
